Also, Danny Boyle has revealed that there is a new 28 Days Later sequel in the works. The movie spawned a sequel, 28 Weeks Later which doesn't have the power of the first movie but is still a decent movie. You can see these homages in episode 5 of What If., alongside references to Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead and more. In the episode, Bruce Banner comes back to a very empty city with shots reminiscent of the movie, while there is a scene in a train station that is a lot like a scene in its sequel 28 Weeks Later. show hinting at the movie in its zombie-dedicated episode. UPDATE: 28 Days Later was given an unlikely homage recently, with Marvel's What If. It's hard to remember a time when zombies weren't infecting both our big and small screens but before 28 Days Later in 2002, they'd been relegated to B-movie hell since the 80s It took a tiny budget and a daring reinvention of the genre (they run!) to reignite our love for the living dead which led to World War Z, Shaun of the Dead, The Walking Dead and many many more. An image that's is scarily familiar to us all now, post Covid. After nearly two decades, 28 Days Later has quite rightly earned its place as one of the best zombie movies of all time - as well as giving us a glimpse of what a deserted London would look like after a pandemic hits.
